Learning Objectives To understand the definitions of: Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans To analyze the work of Gilbert and George through discussion To draw a design containing your face and hand, and (if you have time) a background To demonstrate understanding of Gilbert and George’s work through drawing

Definitions – Please discuss in pairs note: remember to respect each others answers What is a lesbian? What does the word ‘Gay’ mean? What is a bisexual? What is trans? Is it legal to be LGB or T? Can LGBT people get married? Can LGBT people have children?

Look at these images by the artists Gilbert and George

Describe the style of the work. What elements are in it?

Discuss this in pairs then say what you think it could represent

What elements would you need to draw to produce your own version? Create a multi layered image using the photocopy provided. Drawing

Now produce your own design It should contain: Your face so draw your self portrait using a mirror. Think carefully about proportion. Your hand so draw your hand as if it is holding your head. Bright colour so use coloured pencil in the in the style of Gilbert and George.
