Page 2 May China Telecommunication Technology Labs Forward ICT help economy and society reduce carbon ICT can also reduce carbon from itself

Page 3 May China Telecommunication Technology Labs Reduce carbon from ICTs Reduce ancillary equipment Longer life Energy Efficiency Unify ancillary, One for more e.g. Universal power charger for mobile phones and ICTs

Page 4 May China Telecommunication Technology Labs Reduce e-waste from ICTs ICT device needs AC / DC power convertor Normally every ICT device has at lease one power charge, power adapter or power switch unit At the end of life, ICT devices and its power units are kinds of e-waste

Page 5 May China Telecommunication Technology Labs Universal power charger for mobile phones and ICTs ITU-T Study Group 5 ITU-T Recommendation L.1000 Universal power adapter and charger solution for mobile terminals and other ICT devices (March 2010) International IECMoreGSMAITU

Page 6 May China Telecommunication Technology Labs ITU-T Recommendation L.1000 Summary Provides high level requirements for a universal power adapter and charger solution that will reduce the number of power adapters and chargers produced and recycled by widening their application to more devices and increasing their lifetime. Also aims to reduce energy consumption. The longer life cycle and possibility of avoiding device duplication reduces the demand on raw materials and waste. Designed to serve the great majority of mobile terminals and other ICT devices.

Page 7 May China Telecommunication Technology Labs ITU-T L.1000 Scope This Recommendation describes the general requirements for a universal power adapter and charger solution for mobile terminals (e.g. mobile phones) and other ICT devices. This Recommendation includes basic configurations and general requirements for the power adapter and charger interface, energy efficiency, safety, electromagnetic compatibility, resistibility, and eco- environmental specifications.
