UCA Summer Cheer Camp Total of 13 camps –Mt. Bachelor –University of Puget Sound –Las Vegas, NV –Lake Tahoe, CA 8 th Summer working camps
My Physical Health Carrying water/Gatorade coolers Setting up and breaking down sound systems Walking and standing for 12 hours a day Lugging my medical kit around campus Teaching cheers, dances, and stunts to high school cheerleaders!
My Social Health Worked with many different people all summer Working relationships with Cheer staff, Red Shirt Staff and University Staff Interacted with cheerleaders and dancers on a daily basis for bumps and bruises
My Emotional Health Got as much sleep as possible! Order Pizza, watch tv, and talked about our day! Worked out at the Fitness center Being able to make professional and ethical decisions in the health of athletes in a crisis
My Mental Health Grew as an Athletic Trainer Learned all cheers, dances, and chants to be taught at camp Gained life experience as a role model and as a professional Learn something new everyday
Conclusion All of these factors have led to my overall Health this past summer! I believe that I’m balanced in most of the different types of health, but it is important that I keep my eyes on the Mental Health and keep reminding myself that I have a higher purpose than just Band-aids and Ice
