Theme 3 Support the AF and the AF Family Theme 3 is about reaching and touching people at all levels of the Active, Reserve, Guard, Retired, and Cadet elements of the Air Force community in ways that will encourage and assist them in both tangible and intangible ways. Implied goal is to establish AFA as a value-added member of the AF community, worthy of their support As you will see, the individual goals focus on several specific segments of the AFA constituency.

Theme 3 Support the AF and the AF Family Goal 1: Conduct a minimum of one program per year to recognize/ support active, guard, reserve, or AF civilians. Chapter Plan: Joe Kellogg Blue Suit Military Awards Banquet High-visibility recognition program March 31 Solicitation of nominations under way Carlton and Charlotte Loos Civilian Awards Banquet Similar high-visibility recognition for Civilians October Will be preceded by nomination process similar to Blue Suit

Theme 3 Support the AF and the AF Family Goal 2: Conduct or support a minimum of one activity per year to support the families of the deployed forces Chapter Plan: “Work with USO and other local support agencies to support families of deployed members through unit programs.” The Alamo Chapter has formally recommended changing activities per year from one to four in order to reach more members in the face of the current deployment cycle We’re looking for good ideas and volunteers to strengthen our achievement of this goal

Theme 3 Support the AF and the AF Family Goal 3: Conduct a minimum of one program each year to recognize/support veterans and retirees. Chapter Plan: Participate in San Antonio’s annual Veterans’ Day Parade Lay wreath at Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery as part of Veterans’ Day Observance Invite notable veterans to Combat Breakfast, and recognize them.

Chapter Plan: JROTC JROTC detachments select bronze medal winners AFA National provides medals Alamo Chapter funds and presents scholarship a one year membership in AFA for each Approximately $ annually 16 high schools participating ROTC Seven scholarships Approximately $ annually

Theme 3 Support the AF and the AF Family Goal 5: Make personal contact at least once per quarter with senior officers and enlisted leaders to explain AFA activities that directly support their people Chapter Plan: Chapter leadership to personally engage with all principal Commanders in the local area We are planning to take advantage of National President Bob Largent’s visit to accomplish this. Include Command CMSgts in membership panel at state spring executive meeting Also contacting the four former CMSAFs that live in the local area with invitation to participate in our Chapter Support Committee
