The Education Service Commission (ESC) is a 5- member independent body appointed by the Council of Ministers for a 6-year term.  The ESC is charged with island-wide recruitment and selection of public school teachers  The selection of candidates for school administrative posts, supervisory roles and administrative posts at the Education Ministry  ESC is exercising disciplinary control over public school teachers and administrators, and ministry officials, including dismissal or removal from office.  The ESC performs its duties and responsibilities on the basis of the existing legislation and case-law
