Life Born in Denison, Texas on October 14, When he was a kid Eisenhower was bored with his studies but really liked the army. Unable to college he hoped to have government play for his education by applying to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He was accepted in June 1911.

Importance in WWII When the Japanese attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor in December 1941, General George C. Marshall called Eisenhower to Washington and made him head of the Far Eastern Section of the War Plans Division. Eisenhower had the unenviable task of supervising the flow of supplies to Genera Douglas MacArthur’s troops in the Phillipines.

Continued In England, Eisenhower set to work developing plans for an invasion of Europe as thousands of American troops began to arrive in the country. Over his own objections Eisenhower was put in charge of an invasion of North Africa From North Africa, the Allies struck north into Sicily and Italy where Eisenhower showed great skill and diplomacy in moderating disputes between his temperamental commanders.

Continued On April 30, 1945 Adolf Hitler committed suicide and on May 7 th Germany surrendered. And after that General Marshall told Eisenhower you completed your mission with the greatest victory in the history of warfare.
