Reading Skills 1. Finding out word meanings through the context clues. 2. Distinguishing between facts and opinions. 3. Reading for the key ideas in sentences. 4. Reading for the main ideas in paragraphs. 5. Reading for major details. 6. Understanding idiomatic expressions.

7. Reading between the lines (drawing inferences about the author’s ideas from what is written and from what is not written.) 8. Scanning and predicting. 9. Predicting from subtitles.

Reading Practice Suggested reading comprehension skills with some certain reading skills: 1. get through the whole text (single work) 2. underline the unknown words or sentences (single work) 3. guess their meanings with the skills (group work) 4. figure out the main idea of each paragraph (single work) 5. work out the main idea of the whole passage (single work)
