Career vs. Job What is the difference? Job Career The work you do to earn money Career Is a commitment to work in a field that you find interesting and fulfilling

Planning that Career What things influence the career that you will take. At what level do you want your standard of living. What are the apparent trends What is the earning potential of the career you choose. Personal Factors Education Aptitudes Stages in your career

Standard of Living Degree of prosperity in a nation, as measured by income levels, quality of housing and food, medical care, educational opportunities, transportation, communications, and other measures. The standard of living in different countries is frequently compared based on annual per capita income. On an individual level, the standard of living is a measure of the quality of life in such areas as housing, food, education, clothing, transportation, and employment opportunities.

Per Capita Game!!!!! It has been estimated that there are approximately 305 Million people in the US. What are the Per capita of these items? The number in pounds of meat consumed per year. The number in pounds of cheese consumed per year. The number in pounds of sugar consumed per year. The number in pounds of ice cream consumed per year. The number in pounds of pasta consumed per year. The number in gallons of milk consumed per year. The number of Big Macs consumed per year. The number in pounds of Beef (hamburger) consumed per year.

Social Factors Demographic Trends Are tendencies of people who are grouped by age, gender, ethnicity, education, or income that change over times. Some examples\ More working parents – created more jobs in the child care industry More leisure time – creates more time for health, recreation, and fitness products. The graying of society – creates a larger need for retirement communities.

Social Factors Continued Geographic Trends People shifting from one area to another area. The shift back to the City of St. Louis People also shifting to warmer weather climates. Large increase in jobs in Phoenix Nevada, and Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Earning Levels due to Geographic trends You will earn more money in New York City than in St. Louis. However the cost of living is much more as well.
