Alive-O 2 Term 3: Lesson 5 Summer Light

The Long Walk

God told Moses and Aaron in Egypt to get ready for the new year. Tell everyone to take a one year old lamb for each family. If the family is too small and unable to eat all the meat on one lamb, then they are to share with another family.

That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast.

This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it quickly; it is the L ORD ’s Passover, our special family meal.

They had a long journey to travel to the Land that God had promised them. They called it the Promised Land.

When they got tired, Moses reminded them that God had promised to look after them and to show them the way to the Promised Land.

They walked for days and weeks, up hills and down. They travelled through the desert for many, many years.

Forty years later, they arrived at the Promised Land. It was beautiful. They had moved out of the desert into a beautiful green valley, with long grasses, trees, birds singing and a river running through it.

‘God is good,’ they said. We thank God for bringing us to the Promised Land.
