Learning intention To identify the features of different genres of film. Success criteria I can describe the main features of each film genre I can work well with others Activity 2

Group Task In your group or team discuss the following questions: How many different film genres can you name? How many words can you find to describe how each of them make you feel? You have 5 minutes in your teams. You will then be asked to feedback to the class. Activity 2

Independent Task We are going to watch a film clip of a period drama. On whiteboards, note down key points about Setting (day, night, city, countryside) Characters (personality, age) Plot (what happens, pace) Other features (timing, way scene is filmed) Activity 2

You have 2 minutes to note down as many ideas as you can about the important features of that particular genre. After two minutes, rotate the placemat and add information to the new heading.

Group Task Now you have information under all four headings, agree on what the most important features of that genre is and write it in the middle of your placemat. You should take one point from each part of the placemat. You will be asked to present this to the class. Activity 2

Find Someone Who Everyone has been finding out about different genres. Now it’s time to share ideas with everyone else. Find someone who can answer a question on the sheet, ask them to write their name in the box and also their answer. Who can complete their sheet first? Activity 2
