Interactive Mods Map Many museum visitors come to the museum but don’t really know which kind of exhibits/rides the museum has and where they are located. Also, which exhibits are more appropriated for their needs/desires than others. Once the user has downloaded the Interactive MODS Tour Guide and open it on their device, they will be prompted to the welcome screen and their virtual interactive tour guide will show how the app works. The user will have the option to skip the introduction.

The next step In order for the user to have the best experience in the museum, the app will ask the user to select which age group they or their group belongs in. The use may choose multiple age groups. This way, the app will choose which exhibits the user visit first saving the guest time and disappointments from seeing exhibits that may not suit their taste.

The Map or the Fun After the user has selected the age group(s), they will be prompted to a screen where they may choose to explore the museum by using an interactive map showing them the exhibits they should visit first or they may choose to play a fun and educational game, Manatee Mania. While waiting in line for the Everglades Airboat Ride or the space simulator, parents and kids can play this game which will entertain and arise their awareness on the ongoing pollution problem we currently face.

The Map If the user selects the map option from the previous option, then the interactive map will come up. Depending on the age group they selected, the map will show the exhibits the user should visit first. The map will also where the nearest bathroom or bench is located.

The Inside of the Map Once the user clicks on the exhibit name, there will be another screen that comes up with a picture of how the exhibit looks like and a short description of what it is about. This will help the user get the exhibit faster and avoid any confusion as they will see how the exhibit looks like and will get an idea of what to expect to see.

“Entertaining Mankind and Saving Manatees Since 2014”

What is it?  Manatee Mania is a game designed to entertain those who play it and make them aware of the growing problem of pollution, which was the cause of death of almost 15% of Florida’s manatee population in  The object of the game is to control a manatee by tilting your device (using accelerometers) to eat randomly generated plants and avoid pieces of pollution, such as a water bottle.  The first step in solving a problem is to raise awareness. There is no better way to do this than to entertain your audience while educating it.

Museum of Discovery & Science  The MODS has an exhibit titled “Living in the Everglades” which educates visitors about the Everglades, how special it is, and how it’s various species and geography are being negatively impacted by pollution along with other manmade calamities.  Among the species described in the exhibit, manatees were emphasized upon.

Contents  It will contain a start screen, the actual game, a pause screen, an instructions screen, and an informational screen. The informational screen will describe how pollution affects Florida wildlife, and in particular, manatees, along with ways one can help combat this.  This game will be an addendum to our interactive map/“museum in your pocket” MODS app.
