Welcome! Today’s Agenda How to register for WashU Moves How to track your activity Kickoff event Tips for Motivating Teammates Rewards GARMIN Partner Purchase Program

Hello! Wellness Connection is an initiative of the Office of Human Resources to promote evidence-based, data-driven wellness programs for faculty, staff, postdoctoral appointees and clinical fellows across the university. wellnessconnection.wustl.edu

Thank you! Thank you for participating in WashU Moves and for volunteering as a team captain or for participating as an individual walker! As a team captain, your mission is to lead, motivate and encourage your teammates! Please feel free to ask any questions at any time.

Program Goals The goal for WashU Moves is to encourage employees to integrate activity into their daily lives – both at home and at work. Walking is one way to be active and the benefits are numerous! Encourage people to join your team, even if they are not in your department or group. 500 miles = 10,000 steps per day for 100 days = 1 million steps!

The WashU WebMD Portal The WashU WebMD Portal provides essential tools in this program. –Register –Log daily steps –Keep informed about program updates –Keep track of your teammates and encourage them to keep moving!

To register: Log in to your WashU WebMD Portal through HRMS using your WUSTL Key. Look for the blue challenge icon on the Home page. Create/join a team. You can use an alias – the challenge will default to your name as entered in HRMS.

STAND UP MOMENT

Tracking Your Activity Using the Portal allows employees to sync a fitness tracker or smartphone app to their account and removes the necessity of manually entering step counts. Registered WashU Moves participants are eligible for a free GARMIN Vivoki activity tracker. This is a one-time offer. Income taxes apply.

You will need to establish an account for your device or app BEFORE you sync it to your WashU WebMD Portal. Follow the instructions included in your device manual.

New Activity Conversion Chart

GARMIN Partner Purchase Program Benefits-eligible employees receive preferred pricing on Garmin activity trackers: Vívoactive Smart Watch, Forerunner 15, Forerunner 225, Forerunner 920XT and Fēnix 3. As part of this benefit, you may purchase up to 2 of these Garmin products each calendar year at a discount.

Walking Across the Americas!

Role of the Team Captain Lead ● Motivate ● Encourage The team captain is expected to be a leader for all the team members. Keep them motivated! –Encourage team members –Be sure all team members are properly registered & have the right tools. –Make sure everyone is on their way to Tierra del Fuego! –Have your own log-in page through which you can see how many steps each member logged for the week. –Remind participants to record their steps at least 2-3 times a week, if they aren’t synced. –Send pictures of you and your team’s activities (e.g. walking your pet) or even inspirational quotes. –Nominate a Walk Star each week!

Be a Walk Star At the end of each of the 10 walking sessions, team captains can nominate a Walk Star. This person should be someone in your group who deserves to be recognized for encouraging others, works hard to meet their step goals, has made healthy lifestyle changes, etc. Please give a detailed description of why the nominee is deserving of the recognition.

Rewards Individual Rewards: Individual participants can earn up to two (2) rewards during the Challenge period. To earn points toward your prizes, you must log at least 50 days of steps during the 100-day challenge using your WashU WebMD Portal. If you achieve 500,000 or 1 million steps you will be eligible for an individual reward. Team Rewards: Team rewards will be based on the average of the steps each team member has taken. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Teams will receive a commemorative medal. Teams that average 1 million steps will also be recognized. In order for your steps to count toward the team’s total, you must have at least 50 days of steps recorded through your WashU WebMD Portal.

Questions? Thank You!!!
