Single Cascadable Application System Cascading occurs before interview based on application form score Applicants interviewed by their top ranked LETB that has interview capacity for them Appointable candidates for whom there is no post in the LETB that interviews go into national clearing and are not cascaded to their next choice LETB

Structure of the Interview Different for different specialities, but typically, three or more of: – CV and portfolio station (evidence folder) – Presentation station – Skills and knowledge station – Communication and ethics station Academic: usually a single panel (also have to apply through national recruitment)

Academic Interviews Candidate’s past research experience – Methodology and outcomes – Underlying “science” Recent important research in chosen speciality Candidate’s proposed research

CV & ePortfolio Station Questioning may include: – Biographical – Experience – Achievements – Why is it right for you – Why are you right for it Communication skills assessed Content of evidence folder assessed

Presentation skills Sometimes given topic prior to interview – Flip chart or PowerPoint presentation Sometimes given topic at interview – Preparation time – about 20 mins – Flip chart Choice of subject assessed Clarity of visual aids assessed Verbal communication skills assessed

Allocation Process All offers will be made by the same day Offers can be declined or accepted (with/without uplift) or held (with/without uplift) Failure to respond by deadline = declined Can only hold one post
