CHUM You can do it. We will help. Christian Principles for Tough Economic Times “Cultivating Contentment and Simplicity” Pastor Jack Grove

CHUM You can do it. We will help. 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

CHUM You can do it. We will help. Ecclesiastes 2:10-11 Whatever my eyes desired, I did not keep from them; I kept my heart from no pleasure, for my heart found pleasure in my task, and this was my reward for all my toil. Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had spent in doing it, and again, all was vanity and a chasing after the wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.

CHUM You can do it. We will help. Hebrews 13:5-6 Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, "I will never leave you or forsake you." So you can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?"

Luke 12:13-21 Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me." But he said to him, "Friend, who set me to be a judge or arbitrator over you?" And he said to them, "Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; for one's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions." Then he told them a parable: "The land of a rich man produced abundantly. And he thought to himself, 'What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?‘

CHUM You can do it. We will help. Then he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, 'Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God."

CHUM You can do it. We will help. The Treasures That God Has Given You 1. A job that makes it possible for you to treasure the assets it provides for your family and loved ones. 2. A house that enables you to treasure the home that you help create for those who live in the house. 3. A bank account that gives you an opportunity to treasure the security it provides for your family. 4. An income that gives you the opportunity to treasure the lives that are touched through your tithe for the Body of Christ.

CHUM You can do it. We will help. 5. A car that allows you to treasure the freedom that it gives to both you and your loved ones. 6. A calendar that helps you treasure the time you spend with those who mean the most to you. 7. An opportunity to simplify your life so that you can more easily focus on the greatest treasure that God has given you - the people you love. 8. The opportunity to cultivate contentment in your demeanor and personality so that those who are closest to you can treasure the best side of you.
