How are You? I am not happy I can see, but why, my friend? Because people only want the worst of me, my sugar and nothing else.

Sugar is bad for teeth…

…my Sugar makes you gain weight

Fibers… I have a lot of fibers,… But, what is it that you have that is so good?

… but people burn my fibers!.

You are rich in fibers? No...no, it is me, the tree who is the world’s supplier of fiber for paper and packaging

And it is has only just begun!

TREE CANDY By Gunter Pauli Narrator: Mr. Tree goes walking and meets Ms. Sugarcane Mr. Tree: How are you? Ms. Sugarcane: I am not happy! Mr. Tree: I can see, but why, my friend? Ms. Sugarcane: Because people only want the worst of me, my sugar and nothing else. Sugar is bad for teeth and makes you gain weight Mr. Tree: But, what is it that you have that is so good? Ms. Sugarcane: Fibers… I have a lot of fibers, but people burn them!. Mr. Tree: You are rich in fibers? No...no, it is me, the tree who is the world’s supplier of fiber for paper and packaging Ms. Sugarcane: But, how long does it take for you to grow this fiber Mr. Tree: It takes me twenty (20) years to grow, and fiber make up twenty percent (20%) of me Ms. Sugarcane: Well, you see! In less than one (1) year I grow and fiber makes up eighty percent (80%) for me! So… why don’t they make paper out of me? Mr. Tree: Perhaps because they do not know about Sugarcane in Canada or Sweden where there are many trees!, But, now that think about it, I have a lot of sugar. Ms. Sugarcane: You. The tree, you have sugar? Mr. Tree: Oh yes, actually since I am a hardwood thirty percent (30%) of me converted to sweet sugars which do not attack teeth, and do not make you gain weight. Ms. Sugarcane: And what do people do with sugar now? Mr. Tree: Oh, They burn it when making paper! Ms. Sugarcane: Impossible! Mr. Tree: No, and worse still, since they want more fiber faster, they even manipulate our genes so that trees can be harvested in only ten (10) years, instead of twenty (20) Ms. Sugarcane: But at less they still work with you. It is worse for me! In order to have sweets, they now make synthetic sugars! Mr. Tree: Gosh, people really should know they could have happy kids around the world if they made sweets from the tree which could not rot teeth or cause weight gain and make paper from Sugarcane fiber which grows a lot faster than trees Narrator: And Mr. Tree sits down next to Ms. Sugarcane and both start to cry. Mr. Tree and Ms. Sugarcane: And it has only just begun! TREE CANDY By Gunter Pauli Narrator: Mr. Tree goes walking and meets Ms. Sugarcane Mr. Tree: How are you? Ms. Sugarcane: I am not happy!
