Get Started with IOA Communities: Look for this button!

Log In Log in. You can tell if you’re already logged in at the top of the IOA website home page. It will say: Welcome [your name] Then click IOA Communities in the Members Only menu or the Access button in the lower right corner of the home page.

Communities Home Page If you are a member of a committee, that Community will show up in your list. All members can access the following Communities: – All IOA Members – Sectors – Regions Click one of the Communities.

Community Dashboard Page Name of the Community you’re currently in. Functions or ways to participate in the Community. Calendar listings Latest Forum Posts Documents

What you can do in a Community List of all available communities. Search Calendar and documents. Subscribe to and post in a Forum (discussion board). Takes you to the Community dashboard page. Post events of interest in a calendar. Post/share documents with members of that Community.

Forums: Getting started Number of threads (new topics) Total number of posts (threads + comments) Person who last posted.  Click [Name of Community] Forum to go to a summary of the discussions posted.  See next slide…

Forums: Start a thread & subscribe  Subscribe to a forum in order to get notifications of new Forum posts.  Double opt-in process requires you to confirm your subscription (this is for YOUR privacy).  Click New thread to start a new topic or discussion  See next slide…

Forums: New thread (new discussion!)  Fill in Subject and Post/message, then click OK.  If you only want to see comments posted about THIS thread and not all threads in this Community, click Subscribe to Post.

Forums: Reply to a thread  Open the message that interests you and click Reply.  See next slide…

Forums: Reply to a thread  Type in your post (message) and click OK.

Calendar: Post a new event  Click Add event.  See next slide…  Your event post will show up in the Upcoming events list and in the Calendar.

Calendar: Post a new event  Fill in Event name, summary, details, and location. Scroll down…

Calendar: Post a new event  Fill in Start and End dates; other fields as desired.  When done, scroll back to top and click Save.

Documents: Share a document  Click Documents and click +New document.  Select the document that you’d like to share (from your drive or computer). Make sure the file name is clear, brief but descriptive. Click Open.  It will automatically be added to the list in alphabetical order.
