Mandated by the APICS Board of Directors (2007/2008) Developed by Task Force of APICS Instructors (2008) Task Force became Instructor Subcommittee (of BOK Committee) APICS started accepting applications in late 2008 Maintenance Program approved year cycle Jan 1, first of the maintenance applications will be due. Instructor Development Program (IDP)

1,077 IDP applications received 891 applications have been accepted into the program 7 applications have been accepted as IDP members 0 applications are awaiting responses from the applicants The IDP Program has already recognized: 357Masters 140Leads 1,600Associates Instructor Development Program (IDP)

For instructors that have “opted in” to public viewing of their status

CPA Compliance CPA clause: Chapters will only use instructors that are actively engaged in the Instructor Development Program for APICS Corporate APICS programs. Actively engaged is defined as an individual who has been designated as an IDP instructor or who has submitted an application and is working toward IDP designation (not official interpretation yet).

APICS Instructor Training: APICS Train-the-Trainer (TTT) was updated in APICS Learning Dynamics for Instructors (LDI) is being currently being updated New! Applied Instructor Skills (AIS) (still in Beta) Experienced instructors AFTER LDI 1 day course

Applied Instructor Skills (AIS) Learn new brain-based learning techniques Apply adult learning principles to a topic from the APICS body of knowledge (BOK) Explain the design and rational for a lesson of your own design Deliver that lesson of your own design Receive a constructive critique from your peers

Tiered Instructor Levels Associate Ideal for beginning instructors, instructors with experience in one or two program areas, or more experienced instructors who only teach a particular program infrequently. Lead Designed for instructors with approved subject matter expertise in two to five subject areas. Master A perfect match for the most experienced, adept APICS instructors who set the standard for high-quality education. Develop APICS courseware and evaluate other instructors’ performance.

Useful Information about the IDP Must have a Partner Endorsement letter Program is for primarily for Partner Instructors (see next two items) Must be current – if instructor is “un-endorses,” or if partner ceases to be partner of APICS, then instructor must get new Endorsement In-house Corporate instructor may apply with: Corporate Endorsement Must teach APICS in-house ONLY (may not teach public classes, except for APICS partner SCOR-P instructor MUST sign APICS SCOR Instructor Agreement May have in place of Partner or Corporate instructor for teaching SCOR-P ONLY

IDP Maintenance Everyone in program: 5 year cycle begins Jan 1, 2013 for all who joined on or before Dec 31, 2012 Maintenance “points” earned in 2012 will count (effectively making the first cycle 6 years) For those who joined IDP on or after Jan 1, year cycle begins on 5 th anniversary
