INVESTMENT SCHOOL UPDATE MEETING

INVESTMENT SCHOOLS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND IMPLEMENTATION Objectives and Principles Hours and Compensation Timeline of implementation LAUSD Module Rollout Reed PD Leadership team Training Platform

OBJECTIVES AND PRINCIPLES TO GUIDE SPECIAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT  All 37 Investment schools will implement a 40- hour special training, designed to address challenges including high teacher turnover, high dropout rates, and low student achievement.  Before the commencement of the special training, each school will establish a school leadership group to help guide the school through the special training, in collaboration with the official training facilitators.

TIMELINE OF IMPLEMENTATION LAUSD  Module 1 (Session I & II)March 4, 2015  Modules IIApril 15, 2015  Modules III & IVJune 12, 2015  Modules V – VIIJune 2016  Reed Leadership Team will work with Vendors to complete the 40 hours of specialized training Must be completed by all Certificated Personnel No Magnet Teachers (unless they cross over) are required to do the Professional Development

Hours and Compensation  Certificated Staff get their regular rate for the Reed PD completed outside their regular work day.  Time reporting will be done on site  Hours will be monitored by both sign-ins and MyPLN  Any work done during the regular school day (i.e. during a conference period, lunch, or nutrition) will not be paid.

MODULE ROLLOUT  Modules will consist of:  On-line interactive components (professional readings, assessments, videos)  In-person components
