Vp nominations and vote New committees - goals, responsibilities, chair, old & new members, first projects Membership Committee - recruits & processes new member applications & dues, establishes regions when needed to better address unique situations that growers face in each region, encourages and facilitates networking between members in different regions and across entire membership. Communications Committee - promotes USLGA's interests and events through public outreach, works with social media and traditional media to increase public awareness of USLGA, to increase membership, visits to the USLGA website and attendance at USLGA events. Education/ Research & Development Committee - gathers and maintains statistics and data on domestic and foreign lavender production; puts together surveys/ questionnaires/ studies as needed to help focus US lavender industry on most valuable cultivars and products for market, researches domestic and foreign demand for lavender, leads development of USLGA certification program for lavender and lavender products. Website Committee - oversees content and access to online Membership Directory, Discussion Forum, Newsletter, and other web- based databases on growing, processing, and using lavender, oversees content and "Members Only" access to online resources, oversees repository of historical information for USLGA on the website. Newsletter Committee – publishes newsletter for membership at a frequency determined by the board, recruits articles, content and photos from the membership and elsewhere. Also acts in a historian capacity to document USLGA events. Publishes info newsletter? Example: newsletter committee, let each committee member take a section of the newsletter to write and be accountable for. The chair of committee would make sure the work is moving forward, timely, meeting deadline. And then they would proof, edit, and consolidate the sections into the whole newsletter for publication. Interfacing w/TBOL & Yahoo groups Kicking things up a notch to get members involved!! Phasing out uslavgroup (date???) – stop using – start using ( addresses to be set up) – start using new location/system for discussion - need to discuss! – stop using uslav group facebook groups (current ones) Next meeting format? For board, but anyone can come? 1.5 hours? Updates along the way? Agenda review? When to have all members meetings?
