Energy in Matter The particles in matter are always moving. Why do particles move? – Because they have energy! Do all particles move in the same way? – As an object becomes hotter, its particles move faster – As an object becomes colder, its particles move slower

Thermal Energy Thermal energy is energy due to moving particles that make up matter. We feel the flow of thermal energy as heat.
