Friday, May 10, 2013 Projected cost: $95 (students) $105 (chaperones) Charter bus to Orlando Ticket into park T-shirt (adults); student shirt covered in Activity Fee Focus on extension of Science standards through exploration of Physical, Earth/Space, and Life Sciences exhibits; Additional extension of Social Studies standards

DI—(Differentiated Instruction) Students receive 45 minutes of daily enrichment or remediation within their DI group Classes work in novel studies, direct instruction programs, writing support, etc SM5— (SuccessMaker) Students attend the lab for 45 minutes daily Students are working to make “Adequate Progress” in the areas of Reading and Math Students work at their own pace

Reading will consist of instruction using curriculum to meet your child’s needs. Programs include Imagine It!, Reading Mastery, Corrective Reading Focus on practice in reading fluency and development of reading comprehension Test on an Imagine It! story every two weeks; Cold Reads Students should bring their book home or re-read the story online the night before the test. The spelling or vocabulary tests will be given on Friday. The spelling words are given on Monday in class. Mixture of vocabulary for stories and commonly misspelled words to enhance writing. How can you help? Please check your child’s planner and fox file each night for any homework that may need to be completed. Read with your child!

Every fourth grader will be required to complete a science fair project in the SPRING—date to be announced We will complete a class science project and review all the steps to completing a project to be judged in the Science Fair Science Fair packets and additional information will be sent home and available on the 4 th grade website. There will also be a Science Fair informational meeting. Emphasis on the application of the Scientific Method.

FLORIDA HISTORY In addition we also study: - Celebrate Freedom Week - Constitution Day - Civics Education - Black History & Women’s History Months - San Luis Mission, Blended Lives, Museum of Florida History field trips are great experiences that bring Florida’s rich history to life.
