WHAT IS AN APPRENTICESHIP Apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training (OJT) and related classroom instruction under the supervision of a journey-level craft person or trade professional in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. After completing an apprenticeship program, the worker's journey-level status provides an additional benefit of nationwide mobility at journey level scale. Will being an Apprentice help me earn more money? Yes. Apprentices are guaranteed periodic pay increases throughout their Apprenticeships, provided they successfully complete program requirements. Studies have proven that Journeyworkers that have graduated from Apprenticeship Programs typically earn significantly more money than do workers who have not participated in an Apprenticeship & Training Program.
