Genre: historical fiction Realistic fiction that takes place in the past. It is a combination of imagination and fact, for fictional characters are placed in a historically factual setting.

How does the author help readers visualize the story How does the author help readers visualize the story? Cite a sentence from the text that helps you “see” what you are reading. Historical fiction includes details that are based on historical facts. Identify one detail from what you have read that might be based on fact, and explain how you could determine whether the detail comes from actual events.
