Gen. 3:1 Ingratitude, discontent, covetousness, unhappiness, discouragement, sin Rom. 1:21

Nathan specifies David’s wrongs v.9-10 Nathan was specific and thorough David despised the word of God He did evil in the Lord’s eyes He killed Uriah with the Ammonites’ sword He took Uriah’s wife Matthew 1:6 He dishonored God’s name in the nations v Nathan then states what the consequences of David’s sins would be v.11-12, Hosea 8:7 Sex and violence result in sex and violence

Consequences of David’s Sin 1.Child died 12: Amnon rapes Tamar 13: Absalom avenges her humiliation by killing Amnon 13:21-14:33 4.He rebels against David’s leadership 15: He took David’s concubines publicly 12:11, 16:20-23 (advice from Bathsheba’s grandfather 23:34, 11:3) 6.Joab kills Absalom in spite of David’s orders 18: Solomon killed Adonijah 1 Kings 2:13-25

Purpose of Reproof David confessed v.13 David repented Psalm 51 The Lord forgave David v.13 David was restored and could teach others of God’s salvation Psalm 32 We are forgiven sinners who need to help others be free from sin 2 Tim. 2:24-26 God’s plan is for the saved to teach those needing to be saved Acts 2:36-41
