WHAT’s NEW? Accountability/State Assessments MARSE rule set ED has been enacted. MARSE took effect September 26, 2013 MARSE is available on the Office of Regulatory Reform website OSE will be updating website and documents soon

WHAT’s NEW? Data Collection Annual data memo was released on September 30 –provides information on new data collection characteristics and common data reporting problems New Characteristic is the Date of Initial IEP  The date that a new IEP is completed AND offer of FAPE is made.

WHAT’s NEW? Data Collection Upcoming Deadlines: October 25 – BAA “As of” fall assessments November 6 – Fall 2013 General Collection submission deadline November 13 – Fall 2013 General and Early Childhood Collection certification deadline

WHAT’s NEW? Monitoring August 15 Workbook 843 locals acknowledged their reports 8 locals still have not acknowledged their reports

WHAT’s NEW? Monitoring Fall Monitoring Cycle 38 on-site monitoring visits 7 districts will participate in desk audits which are to be completed by October 25

WHAT’s NEW? Monitoring OSE Monitoring and Technical Assistance Team conducted many trainings in preparation for and in assisting with the implementation of Fall 2013 Monitoring Trainings were held throughout August and September.

WHAT’s NEW? Medicaid The National Alliance for Medicaid in Education (NAME) Annual Conference currently being held in Grand Rapids. The number of registrants has broken records! Jane Reagan from OSE thanks everyone for their strong support.

WHAT’s NEW? Medicaid The Michigan Medicaid School Based Services program has been chosen to be audited by the federal Department of Health and Human Services. The audit will be the Michigan Medicaid Program, not individual schools Dates for audit are not available The quarter being audited or the scope of the audit has not been determined

WHAT’s NEW? Medicaid Medicaid School Based Services Implementers Meetings at Ingham ISD: November 12, 2013 March 11, 2014 May 20, 2014 All meetings are scheduled from 1:00-3:00 Phone and web access are both available

WHAT’s NEW? Medicaid If you have issues with a Medicaid provider/physician’s office/health plan/clinic that denies a family services and sends them to school for therapies: Please contact Jane Reagan at This is NOT Medicaid’s policy.
