Strong In Him Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strenth. Questions: What is the theme passage? How does this book fit in the Bible? How is he using this argument? Who is the audience? What book is similar? Is this passage command, principle or example?

Ephesians: Which is it? 1. Paul is giving some cool theology, but the theology is there to support his real purpose, which is to admonish them in Christian living. Or 2. Paul is giving a deep treatise on the theology of Christ, and throws in a few useful applications at the end to illustrate what he just taught.

None of the Above. Examples: Eph 4:17-24 Why? V a Eph 4:29 Why? v.30, Eph 1:13-14 Eph 4:32 Why? Eph 1:7, 2:8-10 Eph 5:1 Why? Eph 3:14-19 Eph 5:3-7 Why? Eph 2:1-8 Eph 5:18 Why? Eph 2:22

The Book of Matthew What I learn about Jesus from the prophecies he fulfilled

Theme of Matthew The Messiah is here and has brought salvation to all people.

Theme Passage Matthew 5:17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Jesus Fulfilled the Law and the Prophets In that… 1. He met all the requirements. Leviticus 18:5 2. Through his death he met the penalty for all of us who did not fullfill all the requirements of the Law. 3. His life fulfilled all the Messianic expectations—the foreshadows and prefigures in the laws, the sacrifices, the festivals. 4. He expanded the Law of Moses to what God expected it to be all along.

Things I Learn About Jesus From the Prophecies He Fulfilled Matthew 1:22-23 (Isaiah 7:14) The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel” (God- with-us). This tells us that: Jesus is the son of man human Jesus is the son of God God Jesus is God-with-us.

Matthew 2:15 (Hoseah 11:1) Out of Egypt I called my son. Jesus is Saviour. Out of Egypt God called Moses Out of Egypt God called his people Israel. Out of Egypt God called Jesus as the savior of his people Out of Egypt God calls us, all of who are slaves to sin (John 8:31f) Q: Is Jesus your savior? Have you come out of Egypt?

Matt 2:23 (Isaiah 11:1-2, Jeremiah 23:5) He will be called a Nazarene. Nazer = shoot, branch Isaiah 11:1-2, Jeremiah 23:5 Messiah is the branch of Jesse and of David. Meaning: Jesus will be the son or royalty and will himself be a king. Q: Is Jesus your king?

Matthew 12:15-21 A Humble and Gentle Servant Jesus: Healer of the sick. Preacher of justice to the nations A bruised reed he will not break

Matthew 21:4-5 Matthew 21:4-5 Riding on a colt. Jesus is King “your king”, but not the kind of king the world expects.

Matt 26: :3-10 (Zechariah 11:12,13) I told them, “If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.” so they paid me thirty pieces of silver. (Matthew 26:14-16) And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”— the handsome price at which they priced me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the Lord, to the potter. (Matthew 27:3-8)

Matthew 27:9-10 Jesus is God (Zech 11:13) All of us rejected Jesus. All of us sold him out for the price of a slave. The blood money was used to take care of the needs of Gentiles.

Jesus: Messiah How Can I Count the Ways Jesus fulfills all the covenants -with Noah -with Abraham -with Moses -with David
