Roaming and International Tariff Nepal Telecommunications Authority

Evolution of Mobile Telephone In Nepal NTA have issued two GSM mobile licenses, one for incumbent operator (NT) & other is for Private operator (SNPL). Nepal Telecom has operated its mobile service since April,1999. Nepal Telecom & SNPL has roaming agreement with different operators of the world. International roaming facility involves roaming between GSM networks, convenience of a single number, a single billing system.

Regulation of GSM Roaming Roaming arrangement is the key success factor for the growth of the GSM subscribers. In Nepal, currently NTA does not regulate the roaming service of GSM mobile. The Regulators of the SAARC region must ensure that the customers of this region will get the maximum benefit from the technology. Regulators of the region should work together. Regulator must ensure affordable roaming rates. Roaming charges should be harmonized in the SAARC region. Slogan: 1 Region, 1 Rate
