Presentation transcript:

In this introductory analysis the above geometry is considered. The taper in the tank, the Benthosphere and Si gell is ignored. The target medium is water. Tank Simulation using GEANT321

Various published data on Pure-water optical clarity. Since the physical characteristics of the tank water is somewhat unknown, the black curve (lower limit) is used in this analysis.

Measurements made by Stoyan: The DR of the sample cut from the tank located in the IEC (red). Also shown are DR data of coated and uncoated Tyvek. The red and blue colored data are considered in this analysis

The input data used in this analysis.

The pmt position was varied for each run which included 100 vertical mu+’s at a fixed location (50cm off center) and fixed energy of 5GeV.

The solid curve (bottom) represents the results when using the white poly reflectance data in the tank surface optics while the dashed line is the results using coated-tyvek reflectance data. The reflectance function is assumed to be purely lamberian. The vertical dotted line represents the muon trajectory location in this projection.
