Short Presentation on ‘Boundary-Less Learning’ Submitted to ITU Crowd-sourcing Platform for #BYND2015 Idea submission by: Michael Onobote

Executive Summary The Boundary-Less Learning (BLL) concept is simply an online learning initiative aimed at hosting multimedia content (in form of video, audio, e-books and other forms of media). Contents from various third party providers who want to host trainings, workshops, short tutorials and vocational courses are uploaded on the BLL platform thereby enabling access anywhere and anytime.

Introduction This platform will offer vocational, technical and professional courses centrally hosted from a Learning Management System (LMS) on a web/internet platform that can be accessed with the use of any internet-enabled computer.

General E-Learning Statistics According to a recent report tagged ‘Ambient Insight’s Africa Market for Self-paced eLearning: Forecast and Analysis. Regional Edition’, the estimated demand-side size of the E-Learning market in Nigeria alone is $43.92 million for Numbers of internet users in Nigeria now stands at almost 48 million and is expected to double in the next three (3) years.

User Survey I conducted a sample survey of fourty (40) respondents in June 2013 to get feedback on what learning methods people really prefer and how they could access materials and two conclusions were drawn as shown below: Majority are tired of traditional/face-to-face methods of learning. Most people have access to internet everywhere (mobile phone and PCs. (See next slide for graphical illustration) Full survey details in PDF attachment tagged “Survey I conducted”

User Survey (Cont’d) People are wary of traditional learning methods

User Survey (Cont’d) Majority have access to internet on-the-go!

Support across various platforms (Mobile phones, Tablets and PCs) Builds collaboration skills (Anywhere & Anytime) Builds collaboration skills (Anywhere & Anytime) Benefits of the BLL concept Totally unique learning experience!

Conclusion This is a critical issue for consideration on a global level as education is a strong tool of national change and ICTs pose numerous advantages of developing and making education not only accessible but almost at no cost! #BYND2015 #ITU For further enquiries, please feel free to contact: Michael Onobote
