Before viewing this presentation we would like to take a moment and relate to the class that this technology lesson should be taught after the students have become familiar with the following: Basic computer keyboarding skills Search engines Surfing the internet/web PowerPoint Clip Art

There is Something “Fishy” Going On Here!

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY!!! Recently there have been an alarming number of dead fish and other marine life found along the banks of the rivers where you live. People have been getting sick and are being admitted into the hospital.

The Challenge! You have been hired by an agency to investigate and report some probable causes affecting the marine life in the area. Some examples of agencies include: EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Corporations in the area Environmental Lawyer Concerned Citizen Scientist

NOTE: You will use the web to compile information for your PowerPoint Presentation. The Process 1.The teacher will divide the class into groups of three. 2.You will need to choose your role and research your job description. (Choose a search engine to begin.) Role?

The Process (continued) 3.This should be presented using PowerPoint. Be sure to include a picture and description of your role. You will need to use technology related sources to locate possible causes of water pollution. List ten sources of water pollution. List three ways pollutants affect surface and ground water supplies.

The Process (continued) List four ways that water pollution affects people and wildlife. You should include a list of twenty things you can do to protect and prevent environmental pollution (water, land, and air).

SKIT, ROLE-PLAY, OR MOCK DEBATE!!! Create and perform a skit, role-play, or mock debate to be presented to the class. Present your skit in such a way that your classmates can learn something new and informative about your profession and your research. *** BONUS POINTS*** Dress for your role! REMEMBER!!!
