Where do we go from here?
Math 8 classes will be using the McGraw-Hill California Math textbook materials which are aligned with the Common Core State Standards. Further information on accessing an electronic copy of the book will be sent home in newsletter in the coming weeks. Textbook
Assigned 4-5 nights per week and is due the following day unless otherwise specified. Homework will be checked daily Graded based upon completeness. Must show work for credit Homework
Assignments will be posted in class and on my website in under the calendar section. Click the "more details" link on each day to find homework assignments and important attachments.
Grades will be computed on a point basis and will be posted regularly in Infinite Campus. The following scale is used to calculate grades: Percent Breakdown Grading Scale Quizzes/Tests 70% A 90%-100% Classwork/Projects 20% B 80%-89% Homework 10% C 70%-79% D 60%-69% F 0%-59% Grading
Tests and Quizzes Tests will be given over each chapter and will be announced beforehand. Some chapters will include a mid-chapter test. Quizzes may or may not be announced. Quiz Corrections Students receiving a grade lower than 80% have the opportunity to improve their quiz/test scores, by submitting quiz corrections to potentially earn ½ point back per missed question. Additionally, students must staple their original test to the back of the quiz corrections.
It is the student’s responsibility to check on any work that was missed during an absence. Students will have the same number of days as they work absent to complete the work, otherwise it will be considered late. Any quizzes missed during an absence must be made up within a week of returning to school *Late work will be accepted for partial credit Absent/Missing Work
