Welcome! Advanced Algebra 1 Mr. Flood

 Some realities  This class is hard  Being organized, and completing assignments on time are essential to the learning process.  Some pleasant realities  I don’t give long HW assignments (so you focus on each problem)  Make up tests!  If you are absent be sure to make your test up asap after your return Things to think about….

What do I bring to class? REQUIRED: Spiral or three-ring notebook with plenty of paper Pencil – for assessments Scientific Calculator (not necessary to be graphing calc.) MUST BRING 2 BLACK EXPO MARKERS (for whiteboard desks)

How will I be graded? Homework (15%)  Most HW will be done on mathxlforschool.com.  You should have pencil and paper with you when you’re doing HW, and only submit answer on MathXL.  I will not grade work shown on paper. Your MathXL homework grade will be the grade you see in Infinite Campus Tests (60%) – There are no re-takes in Advanced Algebra 1  1 Test at the end of each Unit Quizzes (10%)  Usually one quiz per Unit. Final (15%)  You will have a cumulative final at the end of each semester.

Is this class weighted?  No   But you have to take it if you want to take other advanced math classes

Expectations  Be on-time and prepared  Bring your stuff!  When you enter the room place your phone in the phone case in the front of the room  Respect yourself and others  Take pride in your work

Homework – due Monday “About Me” On a half sheet of paper or an index card answer the following questions… 1)What is your name? (Please indicate if you prefer a nickname) 2)What was the highlight of your summer? 3)What is one thing that you’d like me to know? (Hobbies, personality trait, important info…)

Tomorrow! DIAGNOSTIC TEST (No Calculator)  Please bring a #2 pencil I will pass out textbooks on Monday to those who want a physical copy. There is an online textbook on phschool.com (web code: azk-1114)  A lost textbook will cost you $175.
