Vision! 1

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) 2

Hearing! 3

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 (KJV) 4

‘It is as men and women grow in their appreciation of the Word of God that they develop an increasing devotion to the truth of things as they truly are.’ 5

Doing! 6

And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. John 21:6 (NKJV) 7

Habakkuk 2:1-2 8 I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint. And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”

Habakkuk 2:1-2 Has all 3 elements – Vision – looking to God Hearing - the word of God Doing - putting into practice what the word says (running with it). 9

So….what is the vision? God desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:4 (ESV) 10

Or….to put that another way…….. Evangelism for those outside (a home for the lost) Discipleship for those inside (a new home for the found) 11

For this vision to be fulfilled there needs to be 2 working parties:- God and Us 12

Will God do His bit? Is God a 24/7 God? 13

Will we do our bit? Are we 24/7 disciples? (Or are we 1/52 disciples?) 14

Remember Habakkuk….. ‘I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me,’ Hab 2:1 (ESV) Are we on the lookout and looking for God? 15

Is our faith on the increase because we are hearing the word of God? 16

Are we doing what the Word tells us? 17

Vision for God = a purpose – the pursuit of the truth… remember 1 Timothy 2:4 – ‘God wants all to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth’ 18

We have a relationship with God only when we are on the path that leads to Him…. 19

Jesus is the path that leads to God…… Jesus said ‘I am the way and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me’ John 14:6 (ESV) 20

When we find Jesus, who is the truth, we find something else we all want…… 21

Jesus said….. ‘If you abide in my word (look for and listen to me) you are truly my disciples (and doing), and you will know the truth……. 22

Jesus said….. …….and the truth will set you free.’ John 8:31-32 (ESV) 23

That’s the vision… …that we be the person God has made us to be, free from all external control, manipulation, emotional pressure, guilt, condemnation and wrong thinking, and rid of every inner craving that demeans the image of God. 24

Is that a vision you can see? Is that a vision you can hear? Is that a vision you can do (run with)? Is that a vision you can hasten to the end? I believe this is God’s vision for us here in MCF! 25

I am convinced that God will do His bit! 26

Will we do ours?! 27

You probably know where you’ve been brought out of…….. 28

………but do you know where you have been brought into? 29
