The GAs will be held with no changes in the duration. Nevertheless FVE is encouraged to still keep on seeking for the best use of time. Schedule of FVE GAs

Leaflets about use of AB FVE is encouraged to work on the editorial framework of the two leaflets to differentiate when addressed to different stakeholders FVE is encouraged to consider drafting an additional paper targeting general public/animal owners

EU BIPs Drafted amendements of Reg.882/2004, looks like erasing BIPs, replacing with general Border Control Posts without a veterinary status or management. Public and Animal Health/Welfare concerns are evident, since the risk analysis process behind the project looks unclear. FVE is invited to investigate any initiative regarding Border Inspection Posts relevant legislation and support the status of BIPs under Veterinary Competent Authority

National Veterinary Services FVE is encouraged to take advantage of any possible opportunity to ensure that statements regarding “National Veterinary Services” comply with the one agreed in Strategy Paper e.g. OIE paper 1 day competence

THE VETERINARIAN The title of the document should be changed ; a « definition » is more precise and is under the responsibility of the legislator The document should refer to the key concepts such as : «One Health », « VPH »... The document should also include concepts as : public policy ; national and international legislative work ; epidemiology diseases control veterinary drugs and vaccines, feed quality prevention (“prevention is better than cure”) We should avoid to present non clinical activities as “by-activities” of the vets (cf “apart from...” in bullet 2), even if the basis of our competencies are our clinical education and skills Words negatives for the vet profession could be avoided (ex : 3rd bullet point “low quality veterinary services” could be change to “low quality animal health services”). In the same line, the document should end on a positive one-liner. Vets are not in charge of “human welfare” (even if their activities contribute to human well-being) Last sentence : to be made clearer and should be written in a positive way, outlining that vets are able to act for the general interest. To be worked in combination with Added Value Paper

MEAT INSPECTION The final draft of position paper on the modernisation of meat inspection should underline the vital importance of independancy of control systems in place and integrity and reliability of SVOs
