Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Career Cluster First Grade Dr. Sosa Hampton Elementary School

Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Today we will learn about a career that involves taking care of animals in the career cluster Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. A career cluster allows us to organize occupations into groups with similar working skills.

A career is a person’s WORK or JOB. What is a Career? A career is a person’s WORK or JOB.

What is a Career? Most people work for about 30 years or longer. Wow! That’s a long time! We will be learning about different careers so you can pick the one that’s best for you. To help you, all jobs have been sorted into larger groups called career clusters. Today we will focus on the Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources career cluster.

Where does our food come from?

What are some of the plants & animals grown & raised for food in Georgia?

Where do we find animals?

What are the differences between the animals we have in our homes and the animals in the forests, farms and zoos?

How do you take care of animals you might have in your home?

Veterinarian A veterinarian is an animal doctor. A veterinarian is an occupation that is in the Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resource career cluster.

When animals are sick they need a special kind of doctor, called a veterinarian (vet). This person is trained to care of animals like our doctors take care of us. “The cat is sick. Let’s take her to the vet.”

The one thing all these animals have in common, even the ones in the zoo, is that when they get sick they all need to see a veterinarian (vet).

Have you visited a vet or taken a pet to a vet? Do you think being a vet would be a fun job? What type of things would you need to like to be a vet?

There are many occupations in this cluster. Logger Park Ranger Farmer Food Scientist Landscaper
