Presentation transcript:

WP3 10 July 2014 QMUL/GAB 1 Status of Sensor Testing Setup at QMUL Re-structuring of QMUL Physics & Astronomy June/July 2013: Evacuated Physics building and clean room: dis-assembled probing system & moved everything to new clean room. June 2013 – April Clean room air handling fiasco. Apparently fixed now. 3 rd July: AJB+GAB started re-assembling probe station. Knock-on effects from building works continue: (building under wraps, camping out, interruptions to services ). Scheduled to re-inhabit offices mid-September. [My personal reaction to this extensive disruption is quite simply unprintable]

WP3 10 July 2014 QMUL/GAB2 Recently (3 rd /4 th July) Refurbished cable feedthrough box (seals perished). Unclamped stages, re-attached microscope, camera, vacuum, prober control box. Booted ** Windows2000 ** PC + NUCLEUS prober sofware => Checked stage motion still working (in general). Needed, to regain July 2013 status : Run Labview (CAV 2013 vn): Check chuck motion – wafer alignment procedure and strip probe pattern. Check chuck planarity (uniform needle scrub) Re-cable GPIB to instruments Re-install blind on cabinet (Jag) (maybe replace video camera. Service Nitrogen generator.… )

WP3 10 July 2014 QMUL/GAB3 Further ahead: -Bart’s scheme to speed up probing using probe card / switch matrix. -Need new RA + training (GAB thinly spread and ageing). Further work required in order to scan ATLAS Sensors: Install CAV/QMUL chuck adapter (for ATLAS sensors. Currently at CAV). Bias and Signal Cables: make/install. (+ Patch panels if necessary) (trivially) incorporate UPS Make new bias stand-off box (1000V) for Wayne-Kerr LCR meter. (+ install protection unit). Check functionality of instruments & strip-checker measurements At this point we would need an expendable ATLAS sensor to verify / compare results.

WP3 10 July 2014 QMUL/GAB 4 Not related to Sensor testing, but need to flag somewhere Preliminary Thermal simulation of convection in the barrel (Liverpool WP6, 9 th July) … indicates may be large thermal gradients, dependent on cooling path of DCDC converter. Need a thermal description to understand this better.
