Social Action and Humanitarian Projects

What is social action? 0 Finding a way to make a positive difference in the community, state, and world around you!

What can you do? 0 Welcome a new student 0 Help take care of a neighbor’s pet 0 Clean a park 0 Visit the Elderly 0 Thank a service person 0 Fair trade 0 Letter writing campaigns

Questions to ask yourself: 0 What are things we value in our lives? Do others share these same values? 0 What issues are important to us and would motivate us to take action? 0 What can we offer so that others might benefit from our actions? 0 What possible community needs or problems, challenges, or issues can our Team identify that we care about?

Steps to take action: Step 1. Select one Problem, Challenge, or Issue to Address Step 2. Your Solution: Next you need to choose one solution and create an action plan. Think of this as your roadmap for your Social Action Project. Step 3. Impact Measurements and Documentation: Collect on-going data collection for your Social Action Project so that you will have enough photos, documents, and informational highlights to create your Team’s Story of Social Impact at the end of the Project. Step 4. Share your findings!

What is a humanitarian project? 0 Making or creating something that will help out another individual to make their life more comfortable during a stressful time.
