2014 Fall Semester- Lesson Plan 1

Step One  Make a clear introduction of Grammar Translation with a PPT (20 minutes)—You can use any material from internet to help you explain this method.  Tell the classmates (10 minutes) 1. your students’ age 2. The activities (at least 5 activities) you have designed 3. The reading passage (from a literature work) you want to teach

Step Two  Activity 1: Read aloud the passage and translate it into Chinese. (10 minutes)  During the activity, you have to 1. explain the vocabulary in Chinese 2. explain the grammar rules of the sentence structure in Chinese 3. stop to ask students if they can follow you from time to time

Step Three  Activity 2: Ask students to answer the reading comprehension questions (10 minutes)  During the activity, you have to design the comprehension questions lead the students to answer the reading comprehension questions you have designed Provide the correct answers to your students

Step Four  Activity 3: Ask student to answer the other types of question based on their understanding on the reading passage (10 minutes)  During the activity, you have to design the inference questions ask students to answer the inference questions you have designed

Step Five  Activity 4: Teach your students to know the antonyms/synonyms of the vocabulary showing in the reading passage. (10 minutes)  During the activity, you have to prepare the handout for the antonyms/synonyms vocabulary list teach your students to know about antonyms/synonyms and you have prepared

Step Six  Activity 5: Give a list of target language vocabulary words (of the reading passage) and their native language equivalents and a list of the grammatical rules and ask your students to memorize them. (10 minutes)  During the activity, you have to teach the grammar deductively give your students a quiz to make sure they have learned the grammar rules  End of the lesson plan!
