For: Communication Technology 2201 By: Chris Murphy

 - Designed to detect intrusion  - Or unauthorized entry to a building or residence  - Designs are made for home and business protection  - Prisons, homes, government buildings are all protected by security systems

 - Single purpose would be intrusion or burglary.  -Multi-purpose alarms come with intrusion and chemical and fire detectors  Systems range from small to complicated muti- area computer monitored systems

 - Passive infrared detectors  - Ultrasonic detectors  - Microwave detectors  - Glass break detectors  - Smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detectors

 - 36 million alarm detections in a year in US  - Some have real sound and video feedback  - Verified systems have the first response feedback

 - Wired best used when sensors require power to operate correctly  - Wireless use battery operated transmitters easier to install and operate cost less but less effective triggers  - Hybrid use both wired and wireless features giving benefits from both, most expensive of all three
