Health Data Workgroup September 28, 2010

 Response to State Health Plan ◦ Develop a roadmap for continuing to build Maine’s health data, analysis and research infrastructure to support health care payment, delivery system reform, workforce development, and health system performance monitoring to improve health status

 Conduct an inventory and assessment of current health data sources and systems (including policy and legal basis) and data production and analysis capacity  Identify technical, organizational, policy/legal, financial, and other gaps and barriers in Maine’s health data systems and capacity

 Health systems, ACOs will need new mechanisms to continually gather, assess and act on real-time data to measure provider performance, quality, outcomes  Purchasers and payors need timely data to formulate and evaluate new payment methodologies  Consumers need data on provider performance, outcomes, and costs  Policymakers need comprehensive data on disease incidence, treatment costs, health outcomes  Public health systems needs data to target community health system resources, address specific community needs, evaluate public health program services, provide surveillance of emerging public health issues
