Relating to other actors Advanced Drama Fall 2003

Relating to other actors When an actor engages in a transaction with another actor by trying to influence his behavior, he can hardly fail to establish a relationship. Both consciously and unconsciously, he will make logical and psychological adjustments to the other person.

Playing off of another actor Allows you to behave toward the other actors as if you believe they are the characters they play and simultaneously to make full use of your sensory and intellectual responses to each as a person.

Let’s try it Play catch with a real ball. As the game progresses, try to surprise your partners. Continue the game with an imaginary ball. Use your sensory memory so that you can handle the ball as if it were real. Watch carefully when, how, and where the ball is thrown and catch it accordingly. Change the weight of the ball making it a basketball, a medicine ball, a balloon. Working with a group divided into two teams, engage in various games or contests using imaginary athletic equipment. Develop team spirit and establish a relationship with the other players.
