EurOccupations This presentation of some preliminary EurOccupations findings focusses on the roofer occupation Description key occupation ‘roofer (sloped roofs)’: Roofers build or repair sloped roofs, using roof tiles, slates, shingles and metal materials to form waterproof surfaces.

EurOccupations Tasks of the roofer 1.Prepare drawings and specifications. 2.Interpret drawings and specifications. 3.Inspect materials and equipment. 4.Take necessary safety measures. 5.Remove and demolish (parts of) roof construction. 6.Repair (parts of) roof construction. 7.Prepare roof for tiling. 8.Cover roof with tiles, slates or related materials. 9.Measure and cut roofing materials to fit. 10.Install roof fittings. 11.Conduct periodic maintenance of sloped roofs.

EurOccupations Skill Cards should be compulsory for all occupations in the field of construction in Europe. Statement 1

EurOccupations Statement 2 Skill Cards are an unnecessary bureaucratic hinder for both employers and employees.

EurOccupations Statement 3 Skill Cards help to fight the possible exploitation of workers by employers (protection of employees).

EurOccupations Statement 4 Skill Cards are an interesting option, but they hardly work “in the real world” (due to the difficulty to put skill cards into practice).

EurOccupations Statement 5 The EurOccupations initiative can be used to facilitate the introduction and implementation of Skill Cards in a variety of work areas.
