4.0 ISSUES  4.1. Agriculture Some of the villagers are very keen on planting vegetables, but are lacking seeds and essential materials for agriculture: seeds, water pump and tools such as watering cans, rake, spades etc. For the poorest they believe that time spent on agriculture is time spent away from earning money. The School Director is not receiving the state funding necessary for minor maintenance. We are still planning to build a library, but the students are not yet sufficiently prepared. We are still trying to discourage the Schools Authorities from inviting so many NGOs to distribute material on a one-off basis, disrupting NKFC programmes where the same materials are distributed, but after successful completion of courses, as a reward. We are hoping that the Tree Project will motivate the parents to help their children and begin to take a more active role in the school life.  4.3Healthcare / Hygiene The Team is trying to discourage villagers from going to cut their burning wood from the forest as they are exposing themselves to mosquitoes (and thus possibly Malaria). The Team is required to repeatedly provide the Hygiene training to make it a habit for the villagers - it is a slow and frustrating programme. The discipline taught in the Dance School has helped with this element of the hygiene programme, and more families are enrolling in the Family Planning workshops.  4.4Water Policy / Maintenance The families selling their lands are not undertaking their responsibility to ensure that the new owner continues to allow the (eligible) users of the well access, or to maintain the well. 6.0 FUTURE PLANS 1. To progressively enrol the groups of families in each village to participate in NKFC workshops on education and training. 2. To consolidate the hygiene and home gardens programme by visiting the families, door-to-door, who have previously received training. 3. To continue the workshops in compost making, animals feeding, practice in home gardens, hygiene, basic health and vaccination. 4. To complete the targeted number of trees planted for the Fundraising. 5. To maintain regular contact with the local authorities. 6. To encourage the villagers to regularly send their children to school and to take them to local health centre if they are sick. 7. To help and support the Staff in the management of their programmes. 8. To motivate people to join the community. 9. To continue to evaluate the need for wells, latrines, schools and skills workshops. 10. To award students and encourage them to work hard at school and on their agriculture plot and tree planting.
