EWB Group Project Devikulam Community

Project Plan: Develop a community hall, accessible to all members of the community Access to fresh water, via rain water Reliable supply for electricity

Community Hall: Reasons for community call: – Large meeting place for everyone to use, as well as for large gatherings and functions. – Reliable supply of electricity for when power blacks out. – Reliable and clean water supply for community

Land Requirements: Needs to be enough space for tank, community hall. Needs to be in an easy and well accessible location for all members of the community to utilise.

Materials: Mud Walls Tin roofing Stone, Cement Research natural building supplied- e.g timber Gutter – able to cope with monsoonal conditions. Water tank - tin and mud structure

Tank/ Water Collection Large tank to supply communities fresh drinking water Geometric shape – circular, reduces stress points in structure. Tin, reinforced with mud walls – needs to be able to cope with the high amounts of pressure, due to its size.

Education Maintenance Safe practices – Hygiene

Electrical Supply: Availability of resources, e.g. Diesel. Maintenance issues
