Traditional Telephone Radio Television Videotape Emerging MDA/phone MP3 players Interactive DVD Computers Networks Web ICT Opportunities & Limitations What are the advantages and disadvantages of using each form of ICT?

ICT Opportunities & Limitations What Factors need to be considered to determine: Durability ReusabilitySustainability Ruggedized Environment-proof Low-maintenance Accessible No consumables Not time-based Champion Affordable Within capability

ICT Opportunities & Limitations What Factors need to be considered to determine whether the ICT: Should be scaled-upCan be scaled-up

ICT Opportunities & Limitations Scenario 1: Oman Online Teacher Training In an effort to make secondary school graduates more competitive for international higher education and workforce positions, the country has undertaken education reforms that include the application of new teaching methods in secondary schools. The urgency of this initiative requires that thousands of teacher across the country be quickly trained.

ICT Opportunities & Limitations Scenario 2: Malawi Pre-Service DVDs Teacher Education Programs are offered at a handful of post-secondary settings throughout the country. Instructors at these institutions often are in their positions for only a few years. Because of the very high demand for replacement teachers, pre-service education is very brief.
