Transforming lives through learning Dewey 1902 The Child and the Curriculum Dewey advocates a curriculum is a body of knowledge and skills that a child must learn, but must be based on their present state of mind. He also stresses the importance of the teachers understanding as they are the vehicle that imparts the curriculum. Hattie 2009 Hattie’s meta analysis found overwhelming student teacher interaction was crucial. He talks about a curriculum that is explicit to learners.

Transforming lives through learning Theme 4 – Transitions Take account of info for effective transitions, into during and beyond stage of young persons learning.(2011) Transition programmes and procedures effectively meet needs of all learners. Ensure continuity and progression in learning particularly into P1 and between P7 and S1. (2012) Taken steps to improve range of personal support and induction to next phase for all learners.(2011)

Staff are improving the curriculum to support children in developing an increased awareness of themselves as learners.(2012) Main difference in 2013 is greater emphasis on planning for progression coherence and improving transitions.
