IIR Presentation

Institute of International Relations Prague Who We Are The Institute of International Relations (IIR) is an independent research organization linked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. We conduct scholarly research and analytical activities concerning international relations and Czech foreign and security policy. We organize conferences, seminars, and round-table discussions for experts, academics, and political professionals on international relations, security, and development issues.

Institute of International Relations Prague Structure of the IIR The Director of the IIR is Dr. Petr Drulak The Deputy Director is Dr. Petr Kratochvil The Head of the research department is Dr. Jan Hrich Organization structure of the IIR is given by its needs as a non-profit organization. The research department and publishing department are complemented by administration and management.

Institute of International Relations Prague Researchers Researchers as well as associate research fellows contribute to research activities home and abroad. Their research is organized in a flexible manner into research teams that work on projects in various fields. While organized loosely in research centers, researchers also work on individual projects and cooperate across the teams as well as the centers.

Researchers also execute projects funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and internal IIR projects. These are the main areas, in which the projects at the IIR are conducted. We publish books, documents, and three periodical journals:

Institute of International Relations Prague Mezinarodni politika International Politics, the IIR Monthly The International Politics is a monthly for general public. You can find analyses and commentaries to main political events in the world, important documents of the EU, NATO, and OBSE, as well as book reviews of the new additions to the library of the IIR. The International Politics provides a platform for an open discussion on international relations and questions of Czech contemporary foreign policies. The journal also includes the regular attachment of the EU documents.

Institute of International Relations Prague Mezinarodni vztahy International Relations, the IIR Quarterly The International Relations is a theoretical quarterly for the Czech professional community. It receives a positive response in research institutes, at universities, and in professional libraries. The International Relations presents readers with theoretical and practical aspects of international relations, security issues and global issues. The journal also offers book reviews of important publications in these areas.

Institute of International Relations Prague Perspectives Perspectives, the IIR Biannual in English Perspectives: The Central European Review of International Affairs is a refereed journal published twice a year in English. It is in its ninth year, and by now it has established itself as the leading journal in Central and Eastern Europe. Perspectives deals with issues ranging from international relations theory to contemporary international politics, and regional and global issues that affect international relations. Perspectives invites papers and enquiries from interested scholars, especially from CEE countries.

Institute of International Relations Prague The IIR Newsletter The IIR Newsletter informs subscribers on events, publications Information on new issues consists of one article, the contents and a short introduction. It is free of charge. All Policy Papers are available free of charge and distributed by the IIR Newsletter. The IIR sends out its Newsletter in Czech to hundreds of subscribers, politicians, diplomats, and students. At the moment, we are preparing an English version to international subscribers.
