The World Floral Market  Different countries sell and buy flowers from each other.

Distribution Map  Grower, Auction, Broker, Wholesaler, Retail and Consumer

Foreign Growers  Exports flowers from one country to the next.

Domestic Grower  Growers who grow flowers in the U.S.

Auction  Where growers sell their flowers to other brokers

Broker  Middle man between the grower and the wholesaler. They buy flowers in large quantities and sell them to the wholesaler.

Wholesaler  Buys flowers from growers and brokers and sells them to the floral shops.

Retailer  Arranges flowers and sells them to the consumer

Storage  Place where you store flowers – ex: cooler

Final Consumer  Purchases the flowers from the retailer. Ex: weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

A Rose  6am Monday- Harvested in Israel  10am Monday- sold to exporter in Holland  1pm Monday- shipped from Amsterdam airport  5am Tuesday-delivered to wholesaler in Portland Oregon  1pm Tuesday- placed on display on retail in Portland.

That was just one Rose!!!  Think of how HUGE the floral industry actually is and how many people are involved in it!!!
