Part 6: Parts and Accessories

Imagine the result General Requirements Trucks purchased by ARCADIS as part of the fleet management program can be assumed to be compliant with DOT regulations relating to the vehicle itself Trucks in the ARCADIS fleet must be maintained in a safe and operable condition at all times. This includes: - Ensuring all lamps are operable at all times and all reflectors and/or retroflective tape (if present) are present, functional, and maintained - Windshields must be free of cracks or discoloration - Brakes, fuel, exhaust, bumpers, seat belts, frame, doors, wheels and wheel rims, suspension, steering systems and components must be in good safe operating condition at all times - Tires must have good tread, inflated properly, free of cracks or exposed belts, free of cuts, and no evidence of leaks

Imagine the result General Requirements Trailers must also meet the these requirements, as applicable If lamps, lighting devices, reflectors, or retroflective tape require replacement, promptly replace with the same size, shape and color of part that needs replacement

Imagine the result Is There an Easy Way to Verify Tire Tread Thickness? Yes, front tires must have 4/32 inch tread Other tires must have 2/32 inch tread Use the Quarter and Penny test to check: For FRONT Tires: If any part of Washington’s head is covered, you have ≥ 4/32 of an inch tread For Other Tires: If any part of Lincoln’s head is covered, you have ≥ 2/32 of an inch tread

Imagine the result Required Emergency Equipment for CMVs Fire extinguisher: - Minimum requirement of 10 B:C or more if CMV is transporting placarded quantities of HazMat - Minimum requirement of 5 B:C or more for CMVs not used in the transport of Hazmat requiring placarding - Two fire extinguishers of not less than 4 B:C may be used in lieu of one 5 B:C fire extinguisher - Required to be Underwriter Laboratory listed and have a visual indicator to determine charge Required to be readily accessible and mounted to the vehicle

Imagine the result Required Emergency Equipment for CMVs Spare fuses Warning devices for stopped vehicles: - Three bidirectional reflective triangles - or - ‒ Six fusees - or - ‒ 3 liquid burning flares ARCADIS also requires, at a minimum: - A first aid kit - A Class II vest - A Copy of the FMCSR Pocket Handbook - A flashlight All can be purchased from the preferred ARCADIS equipment vendor

Imagine the result Don’t Jam the Fire Extinguisher Under the Seat of the Truck! Improperly mounted Prone to being damaged Improperly inspected Not kept in clean useable condition This fire extinguisher is:
