HIGH DEFINITION VIDEO for the visual artist…

PAL NTSC HDTV HDV

Format definition PAL 720x576 pixel 1 frame pixel Progressive or interlaced 4:2:0 - 8 bit 4:3 recorded on 25Mbit/sec MPEG-2-I-Frame-only

Format definiton HDV 1280x720 or 1440x1080 pixel 1 frame or pixel 720p or 1080i 4:2:0 – 8 bit 16:9 recorded on 19 or 25 Mbit/sec MPEG-2-Video

PRO of HDV It´s „cheap“ compared to broadcast HDTV HDV equipment is compatible to DV You don´t need special editing hardware All editing programs will be able to edit HDV Superb image quality when projected on big screens

CONTRA of HDV New projection and presentation equipment is needed (expensive) At the moment it´s not possible with a normal budget to mix two HDV videos from a VCR You need very high processor power to use HDV material for visuals Only Resolume is able to playback HDV video (at the moment)

Practical presentation For further info and experiences…
